Great race. I have only been running one day a week the past couple of weeks and was surprised that I was able to finish as close to 1h20m as I did.

The trail conditions were perhaps a little worse than in 2012 when I set my course PR...particularly the last 2 miles.

Race 13.1 Roanoke

Race 13.1 Roanoke

I took a wrong turn. I accept partial responsibility because I didn't learn the course prior to the race. The event organizers also accept partial responsibility because they didn't mark the course clearly and many of us took the same wrong turn. The Race 13.1 event organizers have offered a fair restitution.

After running about 1 1/3 miles off course, I ran the same 1 1/3rd miles back to the point of error and then ran the course as intended from there. I usually don't race on Sundays anyway because I work Sundays and don't like to be rushed. I only signed up for this one because I want to support the new Roanoke Triple Crown award.

See link for Roanoke Triple Crown HERE

Having met the qualifier for the Roanoke Triple Crown by completing the course and having logged a solid long run I'm calling the day a success. The walls of my basement aren't exactly hurting for new Age Group medals anyway...(but they did look nice. I'll be back!)
